| Sustainability |
| |
| Sustainability is relevant to development projects. A definition of development sustainability is "the continuation of benefits after major assistance from the donor has been completed". Ensuring that
development projects are sustainable can reduce the likelihood of them collapsing after they have just finished. All development
assistance, apart from temporary emergency and humanitarian relief efforts, should be designed and implemented with the aim of achieving sustainable benefits. |
| |
| Sustainability of the project is, therefore; a matter of core
importance to PERD during the course of the project the focus will be on quality of service and building a rapport with the community. After the completion of the project the trained staff would be self
sufficient to run the Literacy centers without taking assistance from the consultants. Similarly local community organizations (COs,
CBOs & NGOs) can also take initiatives to run the literacy centers
in coordination with the community of similar kind. |
| |
| Trained people and learners would be able to teach the individuals at their homes and in Madaaris. Similarly, the children who become
literate would also be able to enroll in schools and trained mothers will also force their children especially women to seek more
education. |
| |
| After getting literate, the learners would be able to seek technical and vocational education and could be a good source of earning for their families. |
