Laado is 18 years old. She lives in the village of Rahimyar Khan. She has 3 brothers and sisters. One of her brother is studying in 8th class. Laado is very fond of studies. Whenever she sees her brother her inner wish to gain education comes alive.

She was very happy to hear that Azaan Foundation Trust and Actionaid Pakistan have opened adult literacy center in her village, but she was worried about her parents that they may not allow her to get admission as she belongs to Hindu community and they consider as marginalized and vulnerable and there is no tradition to let their girls literate. After one month she succeeded to convince her parents. She took admission in the literacy center and started her studies, she was an intelligent girl she picked very quickly and after 3 months she was able to write letter, she was very happy that she can read and write. The positive impact of her education on community was that other girls of her family also started their education only because of her courage to take step.

Laado is married now and she feels proud being the only girl in her in-laws who can read and write. She also gives awareness to other girls of her community to be literate and many families have now changed their mind and sending her girls and women to literacy centers. Laado is very thankful to Azaan Foundation Trust (AFT) for providing her this invaluable opportunity.
