| International Labour Organization (ILO) had funded Sarhad Rural
Support Program (SRSP) in order to provide quality education under ILO project “Prevention & Elimination of Worst Form of Child Labour from Coal Mining coming from district Shangla”. Shangla is the remote
district of NWFP. An MOU was signed between AFT and SRSP in May 2007 under which the illiterate child workers of coal mines located in Shangla would be given functional literacy. 10 literacy centers were supposed cater 300 learners of an age cohort 15-17 years. The
duration of this project was 6 months. AFT had only provided books and teacher training under the project while SRSP was responsible to manage the implementation and administration. |
