| Azaan Foundation Trust has created an assessment system exclusively for this competency-based syllabus. This consistent assessment system, evaluates the full range of skills and concepts presented in the syllabus. These assessments allow AFT to record the progress of each learner. At the completion of each book, monitors visit the center and conduct in-class assessments. Sheets are handed out to the learners and assessments consist of dictation, reading, math problems,
sentence formation and letter writing according to the assessment level. All three final assessments are included in the center files. |

| Learners are not made aware of their grades with the rationale that failing learners will be discouraged and thus may drop out of the center. Instead, AFT inform teachers of failing learners and instruct them to provide them with extra help so that they can pass other assessments. This rationale and system demonstrates AFT’s sensitivity to learners and reinforces its desire to foster learners confidence in addition to their literacy skills. |

| These assessments are also beneficial for all the stakeholders of
pre-primary education. These assessments are a way of monitoring
teachers performance, and students progress for administrators and the Principal. For teachers these assessments offer accurate
information about a child’s educational progress. A profile of children that emerges from these assessments can also help teachers advise and counsel parents more productively. For children these assessments can help make a more authentic career choice with compatible future courses of studies. |
